Week 1
- Knees! We love to have relaxed knees. I try to stay away from “bend your knees” because that’s an intentional, stiff kind of action which doesn’t entirely fit here. Soft knees are the most crucial part of the blues dance aesthetic. We actually got into it a little by wobbling our knees. If they can wobble, you know they’re soft!
- Kneecaps. We actually want to catch our weight not in our kneecap, but in the tendon right above it, which connects the quad to the knee.
- Free leg: should be very relaxed, swinging freely from a slightly elevated hip so it can land softly and push straight up and down.
- Feet – landing from 1 to 5.
